Electrolyte products are among the most oversold things in sports nutrition. A great deal of what is on sale is mostly sugar with a token mineral content and a strong colour.
The genuine case for one is narrow but real: long sessions, hot conditions, or anyone who sweats heavily enough to find salt on their skin afterwards. Outside that, water and a normal diet cover it perfectly well.
Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function and to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue, where a product is a significant source of it. Check the current label for sodium, potassium and magnesium per serving. That is the only number that tells you whether an electrolyte drink is worth its price.
