Extrifit

Extrifit is a central European sports nutrition brand with an unusually format driven range. Of the seven Extrifit products we stock, four are BCAA, and each of those four is a different physical format rather than a different formula. Tablets, instant powder, a 2:1:1 tablet and a twenty five sachet box. That is a deliberate strategy and it tells you who the brand is aimed at.

The other three are proteins, and they cover the three positions that matter: a hydrolysed isolate at the premium end, a vegan blend, and a flavoured concentrate. The Hydro Isolate 90 at sixty one pounds is the most expensive single protein product on this site, and there are circumstances where that price is justified and circumstances where it is not.

The Extrifit range we stock

Seven Extrifit products, split four to three between amino acids and protein.

Product What it is Category Price
Extrifit Hydro Isolate 90 Hydrolysed whey isolate, ninety percent protein, fastest digesting format here protein £61.00
Extrifit BCAA Instant 300g Instantised BCAA powder that dissolves without a shaker amino acids and BCAA £57.00
Extrifit BCAA 1800 300 tabs BCAA in tablet form, 1800 mg per unit, three hundred tablets amino acids and BCAA £57.00
Extrifit BCAA GT 25x80g Twenty five single serving sachets for training bag use amino acids and BCAA £57.00
Extrifit BCAA 2:1:1 Pure 240 tabs The classic 2:1:1 leucine to isoleucine to valine ratio, in tablets amino acids and BCAA £57.00
Extrifit Vegan 80 2000 g Plant protein blend, two kilograms, dairy free protein £44.00
Extrifit Protein Caffe Latte 80 1000 g Flavoured whey concentrate at eighty percent protein protein £30.00

The four Extrifit BCAA products all sit at the same fifty seven pound price point, which makes the choice between them purely about format rather than value. Pick the one you will actually take consistently, because that is the only variable that differs.

Choosing from the Extrifit range

The Extrifit decision tree is shorter than the product count suggests, because the four BCAA are one decision and the three proteins are another.

Which protein

Hydro Isolate 90 is for people with a specific reason to want hydrolysed isolate: significant lactose intolerance, or a preference for the thinner texture and faster gastric emptying. If neither applies to you, the Caffe Latte concentrate at thirty pounds a kilogram does the same nutritional job for half the money. The Vegan 80 is the answer if dairy is off the table entirely, and two kilograms for forty four pounds is competitive for a plant blend.

Which BCAA format

The instant powder if you drink it during training and want it to actually dissolve. The 2:1:1 tablets if you would rather swallow something than taste it. The sachets if you train away from home and hate carrying tubs. The BCAA 1800 tablets if you want the highest amino acid content per tablet so you swallow fewer of them.

Whether to buy BCAA at all

This is the question worth asking first, and the answer is often no. If your daily protein intake is adequate, particularly from whey, you are already consuming far more branched chain amino acids than these products supply, and the evidence that adding more does anything on top of sufficient total protein is weak. See the amino acids category page for the full argument.

What is actually inside

Three technical points separate the Extrifit products, and the marketing tends to be vague about all three.

What hydrolysis actually buys you. Hydrolysed whey has been treated with enzymes to pre break some of the peptide bonds, producing shorter chains that clear the stomach faster and are less likely to provoke a reaction in people who react to intact dairy proteins. It is genuinely useful for that second group. What it does not do is produce more muscle than an ordinary concentrate when total daily protein is equal, and the studies that looked for that difference did not find a meaningful one. Hydrolysis also makes the powder taste bitter, which is why hydrolysed products are usually heavily flavoured.

What the number after the name means. Hydro Isolate 90 and Vegan 80 and Protein 80 are protein percentages by weight. Ninety percent means ninety grams of protein per hundred grams of powder, which is why isolate is more expensive: you are paying for a more refined material with less lactose and fat carried along. Eighty percent is the normal figure for a good concentrate. Anything advertising a large scoop and a small protein number is padding with something.

BCAA ratios, and why 2:1:1 is the default. The ratio describes leucine to isoleucine to valine. Two to one to one approximates the proportion found in muscle protein and is what most of the older research used. Higher leucine ratios such as four to one to one are marketed on leucine’s role in triggering muscle protein synthesis, but leucine cannot build anything without the other essential amino acids present, which is the structural reason a full spectrum EAA product beats any BCAA ratio. A plant protein like the Vegan 80 supplies all of them.

The Vegan 80 deserves a note of its own. Single source plant proteins have amino acid gaps: pea is low in methionine, rice is low in lysine. A blend of the two covers both gaps, which is why good vegan proteins are blends and why a pure rice protein at the same price is a worse buy.

Dosing and timing

Protein servings across all three Extrifit proteins land between twenty five and thirty five grams of protein. That is the range where the muscle protein synthesis response is close to maximal for most people, and pushing a single serving much higher mostly increases oxidation rather than the response.

BCAA servings on these products supply roughly five to ten grams of combined amino acids. If you are taking them, around training is the conventional timing, and during a fasted session is the one context where the case is strongest, because that is the scenario where circulating amino acids are genuinely low.

The Hydro Isolate is the one product here where timing has an argument. Faster gastric emptying means a quicker rise in plasma amino acids, which matters if you are training again in a few hours or if you struggle to eat solid food soon after a session. Outside those cases, the difference washes out across a day.

The sachets are single serving by design. That removes the commonest source of dosing error, which is a scoop that has migrated to the bottom of the tub and a guess about how full it was.

How Extrifit compares here

Extrifit sits in the upper middle of our price range and earns that position on formats rather than on formulation.

Brand Strongest here Typical price position Best for
Extrifit Format choice, hydrolysed isolate Upper mid A specific protein or BCAA format
Optimum Nutrition Bulk whey economics Premium per tub Buying protein in volume
Czech Virus Multi source protein blends Upper mid Flavour and blended release
Peak Protocol Single ingredient clarity Mid Building a stack from known doses
Chevron Nutrition Cost per serving Lowest here A tight budget

If your reason for buying Extrifit is the Hydro Isolate, it is a strong product and there is no direct substitute in our catalogue. If your reason is BCAA, look at a full spectrum EAA product first, because it covers everything a BCAA does and the gaps a BCAA leaves.

Labelling, testing and UK rules

These products are imported into Great Britain and carry the ingredient list, nutrition declaration and allergen statement required by UK food labelling rules. On a hydrolysed whey the allergen line will still declare milk, because hydrolysis does not remove the source protein, only shortens the chains.

Protein products may carry two authorised claims in Great Britain, taken from the GB nutrition and health claims register: that protein contributes to growth in muscle mass, and that it contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass. Both apply to any sufficiently high protein food, including chicken. Neither is a claim about the powder being superior to food.

Branched chain amino acids carry no authorised health claim at all. Any recovery, endurance or anti catabolic wording you encounter on a BCAA product is outside the register. The Food Standards Agency guidance for food supplement businesses sets out where that line sits.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

Extrifit suits people who have a format problem rather than a formula problem. If you have abandoned three tubs of BCAA because the powder would not dissolve, the instantised version solves your actual issue. If you train away from home, the sachets solve a different one.

It suits people with genuine lactose trouble who want whey rather than a plant blend, which is exactly what a hydrolysed isolate is for.

It is the wrong brand if you are buying on price per gram of protein. The Caffe Latte concentrate is fair value, the Hydro Isolate is not intended to be, and the four BCAA products at fifty seven pounds are expensive for a supplement category whose evidence base does not support that spend for most people.

Buying Extrifit in the UK

Extrifit stock is held in the UK and dispatched domestically, so there is no import wait and no customs charge on your side. Orders before the afternoon cut off leave the same working day.

Store the instantised BCAA powder sealed. Instantising works by adding a wetting agent to the surface of the particles, which is exactly what makes the powder more prone to absorbing moisture from a humid kitchen and setting solid.

The Extrifit sachet box is the format most likely to be bought as a trial, and it is a sensible way to find out whether you will actually keep taking a BCAA before committing to three hundred tablets. Returns on unopened items are covered on shipping and returns.

Common questions

Is Extrifit Hydro Isolate 90 worth sixty one pounds?

It is if lactose is a real problem for you or you need the fastest digesting option available. It is not if you are buying it because hydrolysed sounds more advanced. With daily protein intake held equal, hydrolysed whey has not outperformed ordinary concentrate on muscle outcomes.

What is the difference between the four Extrifit BCAA products?

Format, almost entirely. Instant powder dissolves without a shaker, the 2:1:1 and 1800 are tablets differing in amino acid content per tablet, and the GT box is twenty five single serving sachets. Choose on how you will realistically take it.

Is 2:1:1 the right BCAA ratio?

It is the ratio most of the research used and it approximates the proportion found in muscle protein. Higher leucine ratios are marketed hard but leucine cannot build tissue without the other essential amino acids present, so a full spectrum EAA is the better product if you want this effect at all.

Is Extrifit Vegan 80 a complete protein?

Blended plant proteins covering both pea and rice fill each other’s amino acid gaps, pea being low in methionine and rice low in lysine, so a blend of the two supplies the full essential profile. Check the ingredient list on the tub for the exact sources.

Do I need BCAA if I already use whey protein?

Almost certainly not. Whey is around a quarter branched chain amino acids by weight, so a thirty gram serving already supplies more than most BCAA servings do. Adding BCAA on top of adequate protein has repeatedly failed to show an additional benefit.

Why does hydrolysed protein taste bitter?

Breaking peptide bonds exposes hydrophobic amino acid residues that the intact protein keeps tucked away, and those taste bitter. It is a direct consequence of the processing, which is why hydrolysed products lean on strong flavouring.
